Kick Starting Your Health Journey!
I started my health journey by drastically cutting down on some aspects of my daily diet such as carbs and fat, only to later realize the unsustainable nature of this approach. Purely dieting and cutting down on food is probably the worst approach to get fit, in fact it could have you gaining weight back after it's over. The one thing you must remember is that all nutrients and food groups are equally important for your body to be fit and strong in the long run. Based on my 3-4 years of experience with kickstarting a healthy lifestyle (and still learning), here are my top 4 health habits that have transformed my life positively
1. Eat your veggies
I can't stress enough how important vegetables are in your diet. Vegetables provide high fiber, iron and other rich nutrients that can essentually improve your gut health and also help you achieve a moderate calorie defiict wihout counting, tracking or cutting out anything. About half a plate of veggies with atleast two meals a day can do wonders for your skin and body! You can make this habit easy by adding vegetable sto your already favorite meals, and not having to change too much too fast. for e.g. you can add steamed cauliflower or grilled asparagus with your mac and cheese
2. Move whenever you can
Getting in the habit of moving your body whenever you get a chance can make a huge difference to your physical and mental health. It does not have to be you going to the gym and lifting heavy weights, but if you can take some time out of your day to have a brisk walk or jog outside - that will be enough to get your heart rate pumping and releasing those endorphins to feel happier and more energized!
3. Avoid stress eating
It can be very easy to jump into a meal or a snack to get rid of stress in that situation. However, you should allow yourself to take a step back and really analyze what your body really wants to have and remember your fitness goals. This doesn't mean that you should not treat yourself! There will be times when you will absolutely enjoy that treat but this habit of stepping back will make you less likely to binge eat during stressful situations and be mindful of eating habits
4. Be nice to yourself!
Change starts from within! If you really want to bring a change to your overall lifestyle you need to start treating yourself like you deserve that change. If you do not be hard on yourself and appreciate your body whenever you can, you are bound to be successful in your fitness journey
